Recently Kate Carmody of Beal Organic Cheese Ltd had her organic cheese on the menu for the Dragons to taste, she needed €50,000 but only from an investor she believed she could work with. With the roles reversed, how did the Dragons feel about being interviewed......?
"I am passionate about organic farming and cheese. With 20 years experience in cheese making I have seen a gap in the market for an Irsih Organic cheddar cheese. I will produce 2 organic cheddar cheeses and have already secured major distribution" said Kate.
Kate's love for cheese making made it clear that this is what she wanted to do and her knowledge of the market told her that it was possible. Kate decided to convert to organic production and the farm achieved full organic status in 2000.
In an unusual twist Kate Carmody turned down Bobby and Niall's offer of €50k for 40% of the company. The disappointed Dragons asked her to reconsider and eventually Kate accepted their offer.
