A foraging hedge planting course will take place on Saturday 13th December 2008 at Castlefarm Organic Farm, Narraghmore, Athy, Co Kildare from 11am to 3pm.
This course will teach you how to plant a fruit/nut and berry hedge that will provide buckets of foraging food in the years ahead and a potential income for farmers.
The course tutor Paddy English is a vastly experienced hoticulturist and owner of English\'s Nursery, Wexford. Paddy will identify what fruit, nut and berry trees will work well together to maximise the production and diversity in a foraging hedge. He will also focus on disease resistant varieties.
There will be hands on demonstrations on how to plant the different types of bushes and trees. The course will run from 11am to 3pm and will cost €30 including a light lunch of local food at Castlefarm. Discounted prices from English Nuseries will be available on the day for course attendees.
